Preparation for Worship
What does worship mean to you? Do you go to a church service out of obligation? Do you go to do your time? Do you go so that you will enjoy it? Do you go to tell God how much you love Him?
I suppose the reality is that there is a blend of all of those. Each culture has their own music style and attempting to force a certain group to only worship God through a style of music they don't enjoy is not that productive. That is the challenge that each church has. Some not only have different cultures due to age groups but also because of different nationalities. As I searched for the songs to list above I found it interesting how many different ways there was to sing the same song. As I watched and listened closely I could sense that each group was worshiping in a real sense. I didn't appreciate or like each rendition but I could certainly attach myself to the worshipful attitude of the participants. I invite you to listen to this group of songs prior to Sunday and through out the next week. If you don't like the version then allow yourself to be blessed because those who are worshiping are being blessed. When you come Sunday; worship with us. Praise God for all that He has done. Thank God for the blessings he has bestowed. Pray that God will help you in your time of need. Above all join us as a community as we reach out with our voices and proclaim our love to our God. If you don't like the song, try it anyway. Let the words be your guide. Worship is not just about what we get back from God. Worship is our attitude and our actions toward God. Sometimes it is work. Sometimes we have to take a deep breath and put our life behind us. Sometimes we have to put our likes and dislikes aside. The good feelings we have from a good worship service are a great thing, but we must start with our willingness to worship together.
The Christmas season is a contrast between light and darkness. The season of winter provides a natural covering of darkness, yet we celebrate with the stringing of lights. The shepherds and the wise men were lead to Jesus by light. This Sunday we will cover what the darkness and the light can mean to us spiritually.
May God Bless you as you live as a witness to God's love and Jesus' sacrifice.
- New Year's Service - Will be a family service at 10:00am.
- Youth Group will meet on Wednesday.
- Quizzers will not meet on Wednesday.
