This service is meant to provide another option for those who are unable to attend on Sunday. We are trying to develop the worship gathering around relationships.

We are currently looking for local missionaries for this service.
We need people who will attend on a regular basis; help support a part of the service which could include childcare, music, setup and take down, communion prep, group leaders, and more.

Please contact Pastor Brian if you are willing to help.

The Shutes are coming
June 12th!
Who are Howie & Beverly Shute? The Shutes have been missionaries in Africa since 1997. During their time in the Horn of Africa the church grew from less than 200 to more than 200,000 people. Howie is currently serving as the assistant to the African Regional Director and Beverly is serving as the Regional Personal Coordinator.
What can we do? Let’s start by attending the service so they know that we support them as they represent us in the global
mission field. Let’s continue by showering them with blessings both financial and spiritual. Let’s commit to honoring their ministry in prayer.
Why do we need the Shutes? We have been called by God to make disciples of Christ and the Nazarene church in America is beginning a concentrated focus on planting churches. The Shutes have a solid background in this area and can provide us some great insights in the process of making disciples of Christ.
What can we do? Let’s start by attending the service so they know that we support them as they represent us in the global
mission field. Let’s continue by showering them with blessings both financial and spiritual. Let’s commit to honoring their ministry in prayer.

Children's Sunday
Sunday, June 3rd
All of the children from Critterland and Big City Studios will join the adults to celebrate the work that God has been doing in our children. Join us as we encourage our children to follow God and as we give thanks and encouragement to the leaders of our children’s ministries.
I have been told that there will be a special guest in attendance this Sunday. Make sure you don’t miss it!

You Heard it...... Now what?
If you haven’t noticed our church has recently made a concentrated effort on learning how to make disciples of Christ. We believe that as a church our focus should be loving God, loving people, and making disciples of Christ.

Our first job in learning how to do this is to learn how to build relationships. We can accomplish this through Connect groups such as Women’s ministry events, hiking trips, youth outings, church potlucks, Fun & Faith Groups, and so forth. The main thing is to simply get out there and get involved in someone’s life. As we learn how to live in relationship with others we begin to learn how to live in relationship with God.

As we grow in relationship we begin to address our need for accountability and continued spiritual growth. Many in our church have just recently started getting involved in what could be called Life Transformation Groups. These groups consist of a meeting between 2-3 people who commit to meeting on a regular basis and to love and support each other. In these meetings life is discussed and evaluated. God’s direction is sought and lives are being transformed.

As we grow in our relationships we begin to reproduce ourselves and learn to lead others in new Life Transformation groups, along with teaching and leading others into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

In short, we are learning how to change the world one person at a time.

Interested? Please take a moment to review it. There are a couple of places that continue to need help. If your ministry area is not listed it is because the leader of that area was unable to turn in their list before today. Check with your team to make sure that your ministry is being covered. Please Note that the schedule for June has been altered to accommodate our new summer schedule which begins June 3rd.

How should we communicate?
Have you ever noticed that it seems like no one at church really knows what is happening? Here are some of the ways that we are currently attempting to provide you information. Weekly bulletins, announcements during service, occasional mailed letters, weekly e-mail, website updates, online calendar, Facebook, and Twitter.

What is the best way to provide you information and have you actually read it? Would you consider answering a poll? Please go to http://www.codynaz.com/communication-survey.html I know that having an electronic poll that is being communicated via e-mail is going to skew the results towards electronic communications, but as you can see there are multiple ways to communicate electronically as well, so once we nail down which electronic form of communication is best we can then poll to find out if another form of communication is better than the electronic form.

Did you Know?
Pastor Brian will be at graduation on May 5th to receive his Master's Degree. There will not be teens or kids quizzing as our hope is that you will bring them with you to hear Hal Perkins speak.

There is a Ladies Coffee Break at the Borgers (2966 Sheridan Ave) Saturday the 24th @ 9am. My son and I are always gone during this event so I can't tell you what happens at these things. I think it is some secret women's meeting. My wife however claims it is just a fun time where women can talk about what God is doing in their lives. She wants me to tell you that it will be about Spring Cleaning your soul and heart and that it is based on Psalms 51:10. I still think it is an excuse to drink fancy things and eat fancy cookies. Oh well, since there isn't any meat being served it probably isn't my kind of meeting.

The teens will be on their way to Billings on Friday for District Main Event (used to be Rejoice). Keep them in your prayers. Pastor Brian and I also have to make our way to Billings for separate meetings. We won't be joining the teens since we have to be back for Saturday's workshop. Pastor Brian is attending an SDMI district meeting and I am doing my district license interview. Since Friday is also the 16th wedding anniversary for Marlane and I, we will take a little bit of time to hang out in Billings after the interview. The internet suggests a gift of peridot or using 16 as a theme. Never heard of peridot before. I wonder if she would go for a 16oz steak?

Prayer Requests
Mac Cameron seems to be recovering ok after surviving kidney stones. His son Dillon will be having tubes put in his ears on Friday morning.
I (Kyle) recently shared that I wanted prayer that I would invite a co-worker to lunch. I know that might seem trivial, but I haven't always been good at doing things like that with people I don't know real well. I didn't make it happen the first week but this last week I did. Just wanted to let you know that your prayers worked. It was a good lunch that will hopefully lead to a good friendship.
Melissa Crow - I shared my request a few days ago and gave more information. She is undergoing a lot of medical problems and is in a great deal of pain.
It is never easy to know what to pray for in a situation like hers. I know that sometimes we wonder what it means if we pray for healing and the person isn't healed. The most important thing to me is that the person being prayed for and the people around them are where God wants them to be spiritually. I pray for their souls to be comforted and for God to provide them peace. There are times I pray for healing knowing that God desires that we would all be healed and that none would suffer, but also knowing that sometimes that isn't what happens. It doesn't lessen who God is or mean that God doesn't love us. It just means that in this instance the physical situation wasn't meant to be changed. God's love is demonstrated through our soul and our relationship which are eternal while this physical world is temporary.May God bless you and keep you.

Ashes to Fire Discussion Group

http://www.codynaz.com/1/post/2012/03/ashes-to-fire-discussion-group.html

http://www.codynaz.com/1/post/2012/03/ashes-to-fire-discussion-group.html#comments

Uncategorized

 [...]

This upcoming Sunday a discussion group for Ashes to Fire will meet in the Sanctuary at 9:45 am. Paper copies will also be available during the meeting.Don't forget you can find the current bulletin online @ http://www.codynaz.com/bulletin.html
Join us this Sunday for the First Sunday of Lent.
What is Lent?Lent is a spiritual focus that has been practiced by Christians formally since the 4th Century. Many hear about Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, and Maudi Gras, and that is about all we know about it other than the fact that people who are in church try to give up something. While the secular activities that we hear about the most do come out of Lent, they don't really resemble the activity or celebration used within the church. Lent is primarily found in more liturgical churches. (Who knows what liturgical means?) Liturgical is basically worship that is planned either for one Sunday or for the year. The purpose of liturgy is to help lead the church through a process that will take the focus from themselves and point it toward God. A liturgical church plans or scripts their service and church year, a non-liturgical church believes in non-preparation so that the Holy Spirit will speak and provide the direction one should go. Our church could be seen as a mix. Some churches follow a denominational liturgy or plan and do not stray from it. In the Nazarene church each church creates its own calendar and structures its own service. However each Nazarene church usually has some structure or organization to their service to provide consistency and direction for those participating in the service. Some Nazarene churches are beginning to follow a liturgy calendar for the year which helps the pastor make sure that important spiritual truths are covered on a regular basis. In our local church we believe that being prepared each Sunday and preparing for future Sunday's allows us to better respond to the movement of the Holy Spirit and adapt as the spirit guides us.The primary purpose of Lent through various prayers, scripture readings, Bible Studies, and church services is to help us focus on Jesus during a specified time that leads to the celebration of the Risen Savior on Easter!
More will be explained this Sunday! If you are curious to know more about Lent and how it came about make sure you are there on time!

E-NEWS 2/5 - 2/11

http://www.codynaz.com/1/post/2012/02/e-news-25-211.html

http://www.codynaz.com/1/post/2012/02/e-news-25-211.html#comments

Uncategorized

 [...]

E News for 1/29 - 2/4

http://www.codynaz.com/1/post/2012/01/e-news-for-129-24.html

http://www.codynaz.com/1/post/2012/01/e-news-for-129-24.html#comments

Uncategorized

FAMILY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES IS THIS FRIDAY AT 7PM @ CODY NAZARENE!_Courageous is showing this Friday in the sanctuary.Lord of the Beans & Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 will be showing this Friday downstairs.Snack Potluck will be held in the downstairs foyer. The village is well known for
witchcraft, and the people did not think we would stay more than a day. However, God had
mighty plans, and many people became believers in Christ and a preaching point was
established.” Praise the Lord that His plans prevail over the forces of darkness.
Prayer - New Ministry in Nepal
Please pray for the Pokhara area of western Nepal and the people who live there. Leaders are
planning to start a new ministry within the next month in this area. Pray that the Lord will open the
door for His work to be expanded in Pokhara.

This list does not contain every prayer concern in our community. It is meant to help you update your personal prayer list. The bank is forgiving over $68,000 through the short sale. This has been a long and difficult journey that has been full of challenges and blessings. The primary lesson God is teaching me is that if you aren't willing to suffer and do the hard stuff you will never ever get to experience the best stuff. When we take the easy way out and avoid allowing God to discipline us we fail to allow God to prepare us to experience the blessings he has waiting.

Living through suffering for God is so much better than having a suffering life because of not living. Now instead of seeing what I don't have, I see all the little things each day that God has blessed me with. This week I had the honor of praying for Allen's mother. What a blessing I received!

I took my wife on a date to McDonald's Wednesday night. You can get two pies for $1! While there a teen who had previously attended our church sat down and talked to us. I had the honor of participating in life with that teen. We discussed personal relationships and numerous other topics. I didn't do everything right that night as a pastor. I forgot to pray with him when we left. I interrupted a conversation to greet his mother and completely ignored the other couple. There are still a lot of things I am working on, but I accepted an opportunity to be a servant of Christ that night and was greatly blessed in spirit.

I encourage you to accept God's blessings by giving your entire life to God. Give up control. It is then and only then that you really begin to see just how incredible our God is. God isn't going to call all of you into staff ministry and require you to quit your jobs and leave your homes. But what he will do is ask you to life every minute of every day for him. Trust me. When you do that your life and life of others around you will be infinitely better than what it had been. Are you satisfied being a fan and telling others that you like Jesus? If not, then join us the next 6 weeks as we learn how to become totally committed to Jesus.
