We Love Kids!

Children are very important to us here at Cody Nazarene and they are a huge part of what we are about.

At Cody Nazarene, your child will experience the Word of God taught to them at their level. We like to call it church...kid's style. Our ministry vision is to teach biblical truths in a child-targeted, relevant, and creative way while modeling a loving, biblical community. We want Sunday morning to be the best 2 hours of your child's week.

What do we have to offer children?
A Church Family. One of the primary offerings of our church is a loving church family. It is very important for children to be surrounded and supported by a group of loving adults. The truth is our church just loves kids! We work hard to make sure they know that their church family loves them.

As far as programs go, we have three objectives for the spiritual development of kids during their elementary years.
#1 to have a salvation experience and to begin their journey with Jesus
#2 to begin to grasp and develop a Biblical worldview for life
#3 to grasp a good portion of the Biblical themes and stories

One of our main tools for accomplishing this is our programs on Sunday morning. We offer Critterland for preschoolers and Big City Studio for elementary-aged kids. The reality of children’s education is that there are all sorts of learning styles. But one thing is for certain, if they are not paying attention they are not learning. If it is not interesting to them, they will check out and learning will not take place.

The other thing we keep in mind is that research shows that people remember-
10% of hearing, 20% of seeing, 30% of reading, 50% of See & Hear, 70% See, Hear, Say, 90% See, Hear, Say & Do Immediately, 95% of Sing
Since life change is our goal and interacting is a key in learning and remembering, we apply this research to what we do. Both Critterland and Big City Studio are interactive, engaging, and fun while at the same time building strong biblical foundations.

Critterland

Critterland - Preschool Age
The central emphasis of Critterland is the goodness of God. Children need to know that God is on their side. He loves them and wants good in their lives. Many children have an image of God that views Him as distant and impersonal. Critter Land brings an understanding of a personal God into a child's world. Each week, the kids interact with Looney Bird the puppet as well as different activities, stories, games, and crafts to discover the Big Idea about God's Word. Your children will love it and you will be amazed at how much they learn! Critterland is on Sunday mornings at 11:00am.

Big City Studio

Big City Studio - Kindergarten thru Elementary

Big City Studio is a high-energy approach to children's church. It functions as a movie production studio in an urban setting. It contains a wide range of interactive elements, skits, games, music and more. Big City Studio walks kids through the Bible while helping them understand how the Old and New Testaments fit together. A typical week would include a child-targeted worship time with a sermon, a game, a chance for them to act out the story, and also some interactive elements like wheel of fortune or a game show where they are quizzed on the elements of the lesson. We would also include some elements where different characters in costume come in the room and help the kids apply the lesson. It is geared to get the concepts into their minds and then apply the lesson to everyday life through drama and interaction- engage & learn yet enjoy.

Big City Studio is on Sunday mornings beginning at 9:45am.

Kids Bible Quizzing

Children's Quizzing - Elementary Age

In quizzing, they learn the basics of a particular book of the Bible. This year it is the Book of Matthew. They get opportunities to travel to quiz meets and compete for prizes and trophies against other churches in the valley and beyond. The purpose is to teach the Bible in a fun and exciting way, creating a desire and a love for studying the Bible.
Kids Quizzing is Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm during the school year.
